Position Title: Simulation Software Engineer
Location: Houston, TX – Hybrid
Relocation Assistance: None available at this time
Remote/Telework: Hybrid – At least 3 days per week on-site
Work Schedule: 9/80 – Day shift (every other Friday off)
Travel: Minimal

Description of Duties:

Aegis Aerospace is seeking a Simulation Software Engineer to support our partnership with Lockheed Martin on NASA's Orion program—an advanced crewed spaceflight initiative. In this role, you will be part of a highly collaborative team developing sophisticated simulation tools that ensure spacecraft systems perform safely and reliably. You'll work alongside industry leaders and mission engineers to help model, test, and validate critical components of the Orion spacecraft.

The candidate will:

  • Develop and maintain simulation software for testing and validating spacecraft systems
  • Design and implement software models to replicate spacecraft systems and behaviors
  • Run simulations and analyze results to ensure system performance meets program requirements
  • Collaborate with Lockheed Martin technical teams to integrate simulation software into testing environments
  • Assist in debugging, optimizing, and maintaining simulation software for performance and accuracy
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of simulation processes and methodologies within the team
  • Support project design reviews
  • Participate in regular team meetings to provide status and coordinate with teammates

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with at least 1 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry
  • Proficiency in Python (3.10) and C++ (20) for simulation software development
  • Linux development experience
  • Experience with full development lifecycle (SE, VER/VAL, Dev)
  • Experience with different network protocols
  • Experience in multi-threaded applications
  • Experience writing, analyzing, or debugging device communication protocols
  • Strong skills in debugging, unit testing, and integration testing
  • Experience with simulation tools and environments
  • Strong understanding of simulation-based testing and software verification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative
  • Professional judgment in establishing objectives, milestones, and priorities
  • Reliable and dependable work habits

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Orion
  • MATLAB/Simulink model integration experience
  • General modeling experience
  • Working knowledge of spacecraft design and components
  • Experience working on government contracts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat

Compensation:
Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000 annually. Final compensation is based on experience, education, and directly relevant certifications.
