Dental Assistant



Since 1986, The School of Dental Medicine has been educating students to take their places among the best dental practitioners in our region and across the country. This Dental Assistant position supports the School's Department of Restorative Dentistry and Comprehensive Care, working in our DMD student dental clinic where third- and fourth-year student dentists treat patients with oversight and direction from faculty.

This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, organized, and passionate about supporting dental education in a clinical setting. Join our collaborative team and contribute to the training of future dental professionals.

Job Summary

Performs chairside dental assisting and radiography. Guides patients through visits and treatments, ensures charts are complete and necessary information is collected, and coordinates patient flow. Ensures infection control in operatories and with instruments. Maintains supplies.


Essential Functions

The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our team. This position plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our Comprehensive Care Clinics, ensuring an efficient, organized, and student-focused patient care environment.

Please note: This is not a chairside assisting position.

  • Manage the daily operations of the Comprehensive Care Clinics to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Maintain clinical areas in accordance with established infection control and safety protocols.
  • Keep clinic spaces clean, well-organized, and stocked with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed to maintain adequate supply levels.
  • Coordinate patient flow to support clinical efficiency and student learning.
  • Perform additional clinical support duties as needed to assist faculty, students, and clinic operations.
