Description:

Maps Credit Union seeks a Lending Center Processing Specialist to assist dealers and branch staff with processing, funding, and servicing consumer loans. This position also requires a high degree of coordination between the Lending Center, front-line staff, and indirect dealers. This position must possess a strong knowledge of all Credit Union products and services.


The Lending Center Processing Specialist will:

  • Process and fund direct consumer and indirect loans according to guidelines and procedures with a high level of expertise and measurable success. Prepare closing documents and forward them to the branch for signing.
  • Communicate with auto dealers, third-party vendors, and others to obtain the information necessary to complete and fund approved loans. Provide the necessary information to underwriting and return loan decision information to appropriate parties.
  • Disburse funds in a timely manner for the appropriate types of loans as required. Follow up on unfunded loans. Contact dealer sales staff and others to resolve issues and facilitate timely loan funding.
  • Provide superior member service. Correspond and coordinate with fellow staff and third parties to facilitate timely loan processing and funding.
  • Develop and maintain outside dealer relationships; provide updates and education on Maps products and services and distribute supplies.
  • Ensure that outstanding required documents are tracked, monitored, and followed up on in a timely manner.
  • Process loan renewal/modification requests to existing loans as notated by documentation; Process other consumer and mortgage loans as needed.
  • Maintain records by ensuring that loan files are completed, reviewed for quality control, and saved to storage within the timeline designated.
  • Track, monitor, and follow up on outstanding documents in a timely manner.
  • Partner with and support loan officers and underwriters. Act as a general resource for staff and members on all lending-related functions; make decisions regarding the processing of consumer loans to ensure that the needs of the member are met while protecting the best interests of the organization.
  • Process loan applications and obtain reports and information from credit reporting agencies.
  • Assist in Loan Officer functions as needed depending on level of knowledge and experience; to be determined by Lending Center Manager.
  • Maintain operations by staying informed of and following policies and procedures; report needed changes.
  • Enhance job performance by applying up-to-date professional and technical knowledge gained by attending training sessions, reviewing professional publications, and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of consumer loan policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Audit loans for quality control prior to processing; verify that loan officers have followed policies and procedures.
  • Review valuation methods used by the Credit Union for accuracy and to ensure minimal risk to Credit Union as needed. Resolve any outstanding issues in a timely manner.
  • Follow regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags, and other compliance-related policies.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
1. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
2. Accurate typing/keyboarding skills; intermediate computer skills, including the use of word processing and spreadsheet software applications and e-mail.
3. Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills.
4. Ability to remain flexible in order to adapt to changes in the work environment.
5. Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
6. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
7. Ability to work with co-workers, members, and outside agencies professionally and tactfully.
8. Possess a work ethic that includes neatness, punctuality, and accuracy.
9. Knowledge of Credit Union systems, Maps, and financial industry.

10. Working understanding of Maps loan origination, underwriting, and documentation systems.


Qualifications:
1. Associate's degree in a business-related field or a combination of experience and financial industry-specific training.
2. Minimum of 1-3 years of demonstrated progressive responsibilities in a financial institution and lending experience.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service.
4. Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license.
5. Requires the availability to work Monday – Saturday hours.
6. Must be bondable.
7. Must meet the minimum standards set by SAFE and any applicable state laws, if performing the duties of a MLO. These minimum standards include but are not limited to: (1) never having the employee's loan originator license revoked in any governmental jurisdiction, and (2) not having been convicted of nor pled guilty or nolo contendere to a felony in a domestic, foreign, or military court (a) during the seven-year period preceding the date of application for licensing and registration, or (b) at any time preceding such date of application if such felony involved an act of fraud, act of dishonesty, a breach of trust, or money laundering.
8. If performing the duties of a MLO, must be eligible to renew and must maintain registration with the Registry or the applicable state agency. Failure to renew or maintain registration will result in immediate termination.


Starting Non-Exempt Pay Range is $24.00 - $26.91 per hour, depending on experience.


Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (alternating Fridays until 6:00 PM.) Requires availability to work rotating Saturdays from 8:30 AM -2:00 PM.


This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite, 3 days remote per week) after successful completion of a probationary training period.
