Overview

This position is responsible for Trade Compliance processes, procedures, and performing daily activities to support the North America sites for the Industrial Process Value Center.  Also responsible to ensure import compliance with regulations as outlined by Customs and Border Protection, and any other special trade programs required to support ITT Industrial Process business strategies.  In addition, the role is responsible for providing guidance to the assigned sites leadership teams and site employees on matters relating to import trade compliance and ensuring work practices are consistently utilized. 



Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor & develop import/export compliance personnel including hiring, goal setting, performance, coaching, teamwork, and projects.
  • Manage import/export processes, including classification, origin, ECCN, valuation, licensing, and documentation requirements, to facilitate the smooth flow of goods across borders while minimizing delays and costs in the US & Canada.
  • Maintenance of import/export compliance master data based on U.S. Customs and country specific trade laws.
  • Ensure the accurate import declarations into the US & Canada. Must be able to understand the different tariff combinations required by HTS and country of origin and be able to audit import entries to ensure accuracy of these combinations as well as HTS classification, country of origin, price declared vs. paid and assists and document the audits.
  • Develop consistent policies and procedures to be leveraged across the IP Value Center.
  • Research tooling held at international locations and determine imports that contain assists, declare, track and audit to ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrate the ability toread bills of material aused in determining HTS classification and determining USMCA or other free trade agreement eligibility
  • Implement a duty drawback program. Same Condition and Manufacturing Drawback
  • Support the business with drop-ship orders to minimize duty exposure.
  • Continuously assess savings opportunities across the IP Value Center and take actions to increase savings through applicable duty-reduction programs. Capture savings and report to TC Director on quarterly basis.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to educate employees on import/export control laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, finance, engineering, sales, and supply chain teams, to ensure trade compliance requirements are integrated into business processes and decision-making.
  • Support the export team as needed.
  • Current IP policies and procedures leveraged at domestic sites.  Coordinate site level actions to ensure integrity and effectiveness of import operations.  Own SharePoint site to document policies and revisions. Perform training as required.
  • Manage IP import resolution process for post-entry escalations (CF 28 / 29)
  • Develop policies and procedures to effectively manage, track, declare and monitor Assists for accuracy
  • USMCA:  Maintain proper HS code classification for all imports via AS400 tables, generate and distribute blanket USMCA forms to all brokers annually, assist in the solicitation and determination process.
  • Implement actions to reduce IP import costs, FTA, duty, drawback, broker management.  Track opportunity and savings.
  • Develop reporting mechanisms to audit broker accuracy and to analyze and identify duty reduction opportunity
  • Develop monthly KPI’s to report to the Director of Trade Compliance on broker performance, duty costs, opportunities, etc.
  • Support Supply chain strategies and supplier selection by providing import operations impact.


Qualifications



  • Education: BS Degree in Business or Logistics; Green Belt certification desired
  • Experience: 5 years’ experience in importations.  Past experience at a Customs Brokerage is preferred.
  • Certification: Licensed US Customs Broker is desired.
  • CCS is a plus
  • Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
  • -Excellent data analytic skills, especially advanced excel skills, SQL or azure experience is a plus.
  • -Knowledge of USMCA determination and other free trade agreement analysis.
  • -Knowledge of exports and department of commerce licensing is preferred
  • -Project Management skills including remote activities.
  • -Excellent communicator. Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • -Knowledge of transportation, operations, industry and claims.
