Reports to: Director of Network Infrastructure & Support

Location: Syracuse, NY

Full-Time: A typical work schedule is standard business hours, with the flexibility to handle escalations or support during peak times or special projects.

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly

Exempt: Compensation starts at $78,000–$98,000 annually, depending on experience.

Benefits: Begin the first day after the first two full months of employment.

Position Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of enterprise network systems. The role includes cybersecurity responsibilities, ensuring systems are resilient to internal and external threats. This position requires high technical expertise and the ability to respond to incidents quickly and precisely.

Essential Functions

  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, and VPN infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, and routers.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Apply patches and upgrades to ensure systems are up to date and secure.
  • Manage network access control and endpoint security.
  • Collaborate with security teams to respond to threats or breaches.
  • Document network infrastructure, policies, and incident response steps.
  • Perform risk assessments and participate in compliance audits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience managing enterprise-level networks
  • Proficiency with Cisco or similar network infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection
  • Industry certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Security+)
  • Ability to learn and grow with the business as a team player

Additional Responsibilities

Employees may be required to perform duties outside their primary responsibilities or assigned department, as reasonably requested by management. These duties may occasionally occur outside regular working hours, provided they align with applicable labor laws.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position successfully.

  • Primarily a sedentary office role with frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Requires bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for long periods
  • Ability to use hand tools and small equipment
  • Visual acuity to read and produce reports and communicate effectively in a typical office environment.
