Liberty FCU, a full-service credit union, is currently seeking applicants for a Mortgage Loan Set-Up/Junior Underwriter position. This role will be based out of our Main Office located at 4401 Theater Drive, Evansville, IN 47715. Candidates must possess strong mortgage skills, the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet strict deadlines, and have clear and effective written and oral communication skills. 2 years of past mortgage experience is required.  Experience with Conventional, FHA, USDA and VA mortgage loans is essential. If interested, please proceed by clicking Apply.  

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:   

  • Serve in an early review role to verify that loan meets established guidelines before submission to Processing.  
    • Ensure a complete and accurate 1003 is received.  
    • Verify loan qualifies for chosen program.  
    • Review AUS findings.  
    • Verify income calculations, down payment funds, and borrower assets.  
  • Underwrite loans per credit union and secondary market guidelines, as needed.
    • Complete underwriting worksheet and determine credit worthiness.  
    • Verify the income and employment details of the applicant’s credit history score.  
    • Review income and asset verification of applicants per underwriting guidelines.  
    • Review appraisal per underwriting guidelines.
  • Order tax transcripts, appraisals, titles, and other required file documents.  
  • Address issues prior to loan file submission to processing.  
  • Make responsible loan decisions to achieve organizational goals.  
  • Be accountable for loan decisions.
    • Review appraisal per underwriting guidelines.
    • Develop a working knowledge of the mortgage loan origination system.
    • Understand and apply the different federal regulations associated with mortgage loans
  • Be knowledgeable of changes associated with secondary market programs.
  • Be knowledgeable of all credit union services and products.  
  • Adhere to the credit union’s S.E.R.V.I.C.E. standards.  
  • Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.  
  • Assist with any other duties assigned by my supervisor or management.
