About The Role:
At 3E, we enable a safer, more sustainable world by delivering embedded intelligence that supports critical decisions in chemical safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.
We’re looking for an Industry Reporter who is curious, driven, and passionate about telling the stories that matter, stories that help our clients stay ahead of risks, regulations, and innovations.
In this role, you’ll be the eyes and ears of 3E’s content strategy, closely tracking developments across product safety, compliance, chemical regulations, and sustainability.
You’ll investigate and report on meaningful industry shifts, from emerging technologies and regulatory actions to how the world’s largest manufacturers, retailers, and suppliers are advancing safer, more responsible practices.
You’ll report timely, trusted news and deliver insightful features that help our global clients understand not just what’s happening, but why it matters now, and what it means for the future. Your reporting will span sectors and geographies, with a focus on North America and key global markets.

What You'll Do

  • Research current trends, issues, and innovations in chemical safety.
  • Investigate chemical safety incidents, accidents, and regulatory compliance matters
  • Conduct interviews with industry executives, scientists, and other industry insiders to gather information and insights
  • Write in-depth news articles, features, and reports on chemical safety topics
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant industry sources.
  • Attending press and industry conferences as required.
  • Collaborate with 3E’s editorial teams to deliver sector insights across products and platforms.
  • Work with 3E’s product and commercial teams to maximize customer engagement with our news products and to leverage news to maximize engagement with other products.

What Makes You A Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of professional reporting or editorial experience, with a focus on accuracy, impartiality, and clarity in both hard news and feature writing
  • Knowledge of the chemical, health, and safety industry a plus
  • Knowledge of major chemical safety regulations a plus
  • Proven track record of meeting editorial deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stay on top and ahead of legal developments relevant to 3E clients
  • Proven ability to develop and cultivate sources
  • Ability to track and interpret regulatory, scientific, and policy developments that impact compliance and sustainability efforts
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to juggle different deadlines
  • Comfortable moderating or speaking at internal or external meetings and conferences
  • Based in the Washington DC are and able to commute to an office and external events

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,000 - 65,000 per year.?The final offer will depend on several factors, including the successful candidate’s skills, depth of work experience, location, and relevant licenses/ qualifications. Each offer is determined based on individual strengths and relevant business considerations.
