Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate willdemonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diversestudent population. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence inteaching and learning, collaboration and professional development. Adjunct facultyare expected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environmentconductive to engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member inthis position communicates consistently and effectively with students, facultyand administrators, and responds to communications within a 24-hour period oftime. The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timelygrading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback withassignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

MassBay Community College seeks qualified part time instructors for the currentand future semesters to teach courses in and related to Human Services,including, but not limited to Social Welfare, Behavioral Health, Psychology,and Sociology. Fields of potential courses may also include Substance Abuse andDirect Support. Our adjunct instructors hold a master’s degree in a related discipline and haveobtained appropriate certification and/or licensure where applicable.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work in collaboration with faculty and others to prepare syllabi and develop curricula in alignment with the vision and needs of the College and its initiatives;
  • Meet students regularly at the posted class times and teach assigned courses using effective instructional strategies that promote student learning and preparation;


  • Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding in line with accreditation and College standards;


  • Engage in professional development activities to learn current practices concerning education generally, and early college initiatives;


  • Utilize appropriate learning management systems for the College as needed;


  • Maintain excellent communication with students, department, and division staff throughout the semester;


  • Submit syllabi, midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates;


  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the College, high school, and/or early college liaisons consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and college policies, practices, and procedures;


  • Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate;


  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and the classroom;


  • Willingness to participate in department and divisional assessment activities, including making artifacts available for annual assessment of learning activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a Master’s degree in a related field;

  • Teaching/training experience.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $1,343.00 - 1,524.00 DCE Per Credit
