Summary and Purpose of Position:

Assist staff with the delivery of services. Provide general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks. Clerk II will need to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and produce high-quality work with minimum supervision. Provide excellent customer service at the front desk and triage. Cultivate a warm, welcoming, inclusive environment for all students and visitors.

Primary Functions:

  • Provide a welcoming, warm environment to students and visitors
  • Serve as receptionist: greet visitors, check in students, answer phones, schedule Starfish appointments
  • Triage student needs to various departments throughout the college
  • Assist students with basic functions such as completing Admissions applications, printing enrollment verifications, etc.
  • Supervise student workers at the front desk
  • Serve as a department web liaison; update website when needed
  • Ability to use Degree Works and BANNER (Self-Service and Production)
  • Train new front desk staff

Secondary Functions:

  • Collaborate with student workers to assist students with basic functions
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must currently hold the Monroe County civil service title of Office Clerk II or be reachable on the current eligible list for this title or meet the below minimum requirements for a provisional or temporary appointment, if offered.
    • Graduation with an associate's degree or successful completion of at least sixty (60) credit hours from a college or university; OR
    • Two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent office clerical or secretarial experience; or,
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
  • Three years of office clerical or secretarial experience
  • Experience using BANNER and/or other student information systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience working with a multi-cultural/diverse population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with an associate's degree in office technology or a closely related field
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours: 8:45 am - 4:45 pm

Salary: $39,797.72-$50,895.13

The starting salary for all new hires is typically at the entry-level figure, as determined by the step placement of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Progression through the range occurs over time based on established criteria such as length of service and performance.
