Summary:
The Quality Engineer for the Michigan City, IN plant reports directly to the Plant Manager and will have the primary responsibility of representing, and supporting, Dwyer Instruments, Inc. in all aspects related to Quality. This position will be responsible to support Dwyer Instruments, LLC. Corporate Quality initiatives and will act as a liaison between Dwyer Instruments, Inc. Corporate departments (Engineering, Product Managers, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality Management) and Dwyer Instruments, Inc. Manufacturing Plants when dealing with Quality related subject matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the Quality of all products produced using Quality tools / Quality related inputs: Warranty Reports, Scrap, DMR's, Returns etc....
- Monitoring the Quality impact of Suppliers to Dwyer Instruments, Inc. Manufacturing Plants to include DMR's, Incoming inspection etc...
- Support the development and maintenance of required Dwyer Instruments, Inc. QA / QC documentation with the aid of Corporate Engineering, Product Management, Corporate Quality and Plant personnel. Documentation can include but is not limited to: Assembly instructions, Inspection instructions, Visual management aid's etc...
- Be proficient in the use of Quality tools such as 8D problem solving, Root cause analysis, Quality planning / APQP, FMEA, Control plans, MSA, and SPC.
- Work with Plant Personnel, Corporate Engineering, Product Management, Corporate Quality on root cause analysis and corrective action measures relating to Warranty / RMA's, Internal processes, Internal Audit findings, DMR's etc....
- Support Corporate Quality training initiatives as necessary to include being the primary trainer for applicable subject matters.
- Provide support to maintain and improve Dwyer Instruments, Inc. Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and Dwyer Instruments, Inc. requirements.
- Provide support to applicable departments (Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Management etc... to ensure deadlines and objectives are met for NPD (New Product Development) initiatives.
- Identify and support Dwyer Instruments, Inc. continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide Quality support, as warranted, to aid Dwyer Instruments, Inc. in meeting or exceeding all Quality related metrics (reference KPI's below).
- Support as needed to ensure Dwyer Instruments, Inc. Audit programs (Internal, Supplier) are sustained.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):
- Warranty -Product
- RMA's - days to close
- Audits (Corporate / Plant) – scheduled / completed
- Audits (Supplier) – scheduled/completed
- NPD (New Product Development) – on time delivery of Quality tasks
- Corrective Actions – time to complete
Requirements:
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent education / experience
- 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment certified to ISO 9001 or similar standard.
- Knowledge of development and implementation of Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, IATF, 17025, ISO14001 etc...
- Technical aptitude, preferably with instrumentation
- Proficiency in G Suite and / or MS Office, including Word and Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
- Ability to multitask on a day to day basis

Work Conditions:
- Work in an office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some areas are narrow and difficult to maneuver. Work hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00pm with minimal flexibility. No elevator access to the second floor.
