POSITION DETAILS
 
Full-time with benefits; works Monday through Thursday nights from 8pm to 6am; holiday rotation required.  Base rate is determined on years of experience and number of modalities; $3.25 more per hour for night shift differential on top of base rate.  CT experience is preferred on hire but not required, will train and must be obtained within two years from hire.
 
JOB SUMMARY

Maintain documented competencies in two (2) modalities.  Under the direct supervision of the Imaging Director, performs procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries.  Possess the knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent, high quality examinations.  Is responsible for the everyday activities of the Imaging departments.  Functions independently within the broad scope of established departmental policies and goals; generally refers specific problems to the supervisor only when clarification of operating policies and procedures may be required. Must possess the ability assess patient data relative to age specific needs and provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTION

• Performs radiographic and CT scanning procedures as ordered by a provider for interpretation by a Radiologist.
• Positions patient and selects proper factors and protocol for each examination. 
• Obtains a complete history of patient’s signs/symptoms for each exam, documents accordingly, and correctly reviews all documentation prior to submission to the Radiologist.
• Verifies that all images acquired are viewable & and of diagnostic quality in the PACS prior to Radiologist interpretation.
• Completes all daily patient schedule work-up requirements.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with the Medical Staff and hospital staff and interdepartmental staff.
• Documents any contrast reactions or infiltrations according to department policies and procedures.
• Performs quality assurance Tests for all required equipment and cleans equipment daily before starting exam schedule and in between each patient exam.
• Assumes care and responsibility for patients undergoing exams until the patient leaves the Department.  Instruct patients regarding procedure and clearly communicates regarding any questions or concerns the patient may have.
• Maintains clean examination rooms, stocks necessary medical, radiological supplies and linen.
• Oversees radiographic technology students the proper procedures, x-ray physics, equipment operation, anatomy and the duties and responsibilities of an Imaging Technologist.
• Operates portable radiographic equipment for the performance of procedures throughout the hospital including the surgical unit and the emergency room.
• Notifies Imaging Director of any concerns that directly affect the Imaging Department.
• Demonstrates flexibility regarding schedule changes and uses time efficiently.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduated from an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Valid Wisconsin Radiographer's License and must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, both required
• Obtains CT registry within 2 years of employment.
• 1 year of imaging experience preferred
• Current certification or eligibility to become BLS certified.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers and employees.
• Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress, with minimal supervision, and to exercise initiative and judgment in analyzing, organizing, planning, prioritizing, scheduling and coordinating work with others.
• Needs to possess as high level of intelligence, integrity, sense of responsibility and ability to comprehend and analyze details.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for infant through geriatric patients.
• Prior radiology/CT experience preferred.
• Experience in venipuncture preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, and talk and hear.
• The Imaging Technologist is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.  The Imaging Technologist is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch, and smell.
• The Imaging Technologist must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
