Detroit Defense is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Control Analyst to support financial management and reporting for complex government contracts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in government contract accounting, project cost tracking, compliance with federal regulations (e.g., FAR/DFARS), and financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring contract profitability and adherence to regulatory and client requirements.


This position will be in our Troy, MI office and has a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of three days per week in office.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This Senior Project Control Analyst position will require you to work in both a team environment as well as being responsible for the timely completion of individual assignments.

  • This position will support the Sr. Director Finance to inform project managers/leads by providing actual project costs, forecasts and profitability analysis.
  • Manage all financial aspects of assigned government contracts and projects, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly project financial reports, revenue recognition, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Track project costs, monitor funding levels, and identify cost overruns or billing issues.
  • Coordinate and prepare invoices to government clients in accordance with contract terms.
  • Support audits and reviews by government agencies (e.g., DCAA).
  • Assist with the maintenance of project accounting systems and support system improvements.
  • Collaborate with various teams across the organization (project management, pricing, contracts, accounting and others) to provide financial guidance and performance metrics.
  • Analyze labor charging, indirect rates, and cost allocations to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate as needed and contribute to continuous improvement of policy and procedures.
Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university is required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Clearance and Common Access Card (CAC) if required. The minimum requirement to obtain a Secret Clearance is Unites States Citizenship.

A Minimum of five years of progressive experience in project accounting with a focus on government contracts.

Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and government contract billing practices.

Experience working with accounting systems such as Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar ERP platforms.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Strong communication skills and ability to interact with both financial and non-financial personnel.
