Job Overview

The Educator II, (STI) Community Outreach & Education Infectious Diseases (ID) provides comprehensive Health Education, STI counseling and testing, and facilitates prevention interventions to clients at high risk for STIs in various community venues and events, including those involving unhoused individuals. The Educator is responsible for client identification and screening, intake and assessment, and necessary follow-up. The Educator provides HIV and STI counseling and testing, as well as follow-up, coordination, and referrals to services as needed. Lastly, the Educator addresses and empowers each client’s efforts to reduce the risk of STI infection or transmission.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Bachelor of Arts Degree, preferred.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience working in an STI prevention program or a related human services.

• Experience (through education or work experience) in counseling, crisis intervention, and writing related to the implementation of program goals and objectives.

• Certified by the Los Angeles County Division of HIV and STD Programs in HIV Counseling and Testing.

• Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese, depending on location preferred.

• A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

• Must be at least 21 years of age (due to outreach at local bars and nightclubs).

• Must provide a driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.

• Must be available to work evening and weekend hours, as a high percentage of field-based work is during this time.

Compensation

$25.00 - $29.32 hourly
