Position Summary
The Assistant Coach assists in all aspects of developing a competitive women’s and men’s cross country/track and field program in the Big Sky Conference. This includes, but is not limited to: coaching, recruiting, and counseling student-athletes; managing daily administrative duties of the program; fundraising and public relations; supervising volunteers; adhering to all rules and regulation of the university, NCAA, and Big Sky Conference.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum three years collegiate coaching experience with USTFCCCA or USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification OR one year collegiate coaching experience with at least three years collegiate competitive experience with USTFCCCA or USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification.
  • Demonstrated excellence in professional/interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing a successful men’s and women’s cross-country/track and field program both academically and athletically.
  • Demonstrated competency in operations and logistical management of a collegiate cross country/track and field program.
  • Desire and ability to work collaboratively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Coaching experience with both men and women.
  • NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA coaching experience and five years overall coaching experience.

Work Days/HoursTotal Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position will be dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
