POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Provide HVAC maintenance support on the Fort Belvoir project site. Performs maintenance, diagnostic testing, overhauling, installation, and repairs on various air-conditioning, dehumidification, refrigeration, ventilation, and heating systems equipment and controls within critically controlled environmental installations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Research specifications provided by other parties and make any necessary installation corrections, ensuring that the equipment functions properly according to the tenant agency's requirements.
  • Building maintenance tasks must be performed to a high standard, including, but not limited to, making adjustments and repairs to HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance functions, including, but not limited to, changing filters, cleaning cooling towers, and heating and cooling coils.
  • Responsible for emergency after-hours callbacks determined by the facility coordinator and all other assigned duties not to exceed the technical level of the HVAC Mechanic.
  • Function independently to make decisions and sound recommendations concerning HVAC operations and maintenance, with the required experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) – five (5) years of experience as a licensed Master HVAC mechanic for the state of Virginia.
  • Three years of experience with commercial grade equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Climbing and balancing.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
  • The job requires 15% sitting, 40% walking, and 45% standing.
  • High noise levels are expected with general maintenance.
  • Must have the ability to maintain assigned work hours.
  • Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Limited physical accommodation is available.
  • This role requires work in office and non-office settings such as machinery rooms, electrical distribution centers, server rooms, and industrial locations.
  • Work requires exposure to heat/cold, noise, dust, mist, and/or fumes.
  • Requires the ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Requires wearing personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, a fall protection harness, protective-toe footwear, gloves, a hard hat, and hearing protection.
  • Work hazards include electrical shock, confined spaces, and noise hazards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test.
  • Must obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) per contract.
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card.
  • Must have a Master HVAC license.
  • Must complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Must be a legal U.S. Resident per contract.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English per contract.
  • Must be able to access DoD Military installations.
