The Lighting/Sound/Video Technician and Operator implements, repairs, troubleshoots, and operates John and Joan Mullen Center for the Performing Arts technical aspects. The individual in this position must be able to work day shifts as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lighting/Sound/Video Operations (Nights/Weekends); Implement, repair, troubleshoot, and operate Mullen Center’s technical aspects, including, but not limited to: staging, audio, theatrical lighting, video, safety, and other related production functions for Mullen Center’s performance spaces, classrooms, rehearsal rooms, dance studio, lobbies, and other ancillary rooms.
- Works directly with various University departments and student organizations, in particular the Villanova Theatre Department (VTD), Academic Departments, Office of Student Life, Office of Music Activities, student groups, alumni organizations, and external clients, coordinating all staff and student efforts to realize the Mullen Center’s educational and recreational objectives, as it relates to technical/theatrical equipment implementation, design, safety, and repair.
- Train other Mullen Center event technicians, including contracted services and University work-study, as necessary.
- Reports to and meets regularly with the Executive Director, Lead Technical Coordinator/Stage Supervisor, and Technical Coordinator/Stage Supervisor to provide periodic updates on progress toward goals, long-range plans, and operational details.
- Perform additional duties and assist with special projects, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferably in theatre design or technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 2+ years’ technical theatre/event experience as it relates to staging, audio, stage lighting, video, rigging, safety, and other related production/event functions.
- Experience performing technical theatre/event operations.
- Experience with pre-performance, performance, post-performance, and trouble-shooting activities.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of theater/event staging, sound engineering, stage lighting (e.g., LED light instruments), video, theatrical rigging (e.g., fly system), and event safety.
- Knowledge of commonly utilized theatre controls/software (e.g., ETC lighting controls/software, Midas sound board controls/software, and video projection).
- Demonstrated experience working safely on/with aerial lifts and platforms, catwalks, and ladders
- Must be an excellent communicator with an ability to instruct, supervise, and clearly technical information, operation, and procedures to diverse audiences (e.g., creative personnel, undergrad/graduate students, production staff, other University departments, academic departments, and external clients).
- Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive relationships.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work in physically demanding situations.
- Working knowledge of M/S Office Suite; ETC lighting controls/software, digital sound controls/software,
- Basic computer, copy, and phone skills; theatrical rigging (i.e., fly system); aerial lifts/platforms and ladders, and theatrical stage equipment and safety equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
- Stage lighting and controls, sound controls, video controls, theatrical rigging equipment, aerial lifts/platforms, ladders, orchestra lift, common construction tools (e.g., screw gun, crescent wrench, and hammers), choral risers, stage platforms.
- Working at heights, lifting up to 50 pounds.
