Main Function:

The Construction Accounting Manager reports to the VP, Construction Accounting. The candidate will assist in the reporting of all capital improvement projects. This will include monitoring of the value enhancing budgets across Brixmor’s national platform, reporting significant transactions, and ensuring the proper accounting treatment while providing construction professionals with project analysis on demand. Additionally, this position is responsible for overseeing daily administration of financial matters related to all capital projects as well as routine construction accounting related functions.  A thorough understanding of the construction industry and the construction process is preferred, but not required.  Other requirements should include personal initiative, organization, accuracy, attention to detail, ability to work on concurrent assignments, handle high volume output, verbal & written communication skills, judgment and confidentiality.  

 Overall Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of executive level analysis of company’s value enhancing portfolio budgeting
  • Accurately and efficiently assist managing the tracking of budgets for multiple regions and departments
  • Review all daily construction activity
  • Assist in the development of executive level reports & analysis related to project costs.
  • Monitor the work-in progress as it relates to job costing.
  • Assist the regional controllers in order to accurately project, input, and monitor activity within the project management software.
  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual construction related financial reporting.   
  • Other duties as required

  Qualifications:

  • An Accounting/Finance undergraduate degree
  • Minimum of 3 years job-related experience-real estate experience preferred
  • Team approach with positive attitude
  • Detailed spreadsheet expertise
  • Previous JDE and E-Builder experience a plus
  • Attention to detail as well as ability to see the big picture
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Sound time and project management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi task and work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong communication and coordination with multiple departments
  • Capable of clear lateral thinking with a disciplined approach to documenting and solving problems
