Job Summary:

BRG is seeking a Systems Security Engineer – Resiliency to lead the advancement of our backup capabilities with a strategic focus on cybersecurity, data integrity, and operational resilience. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure backup strategies, including documentation, testing, and continuous process optimization, across both cloud and on-premises environments. In alignment with BRG’s cybersecurity roadmap, the engineer will play a key role in ensuring business continuity, safeguarding sensitive data, and supporting compliance with evolving global data privacy regulations and client expectations.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: IT Manager, Systems Engineering & Resiliency

Key Contacts:

  • Interfaces regularly with all internal IT groups
  • Collaborates with the Risk and Compliance team to align on business resiliency requirements

Major Responsibilities / Job Functions:

  • Lead efforts to enhance systems availability and fault tolerance across BRG platforms
  • Design and implement secure, scalable backup and recovery solutions for both on-prem and cloud systems
  • Develop and maintain detailed, testable disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and assist with internal and external audits
  • Identify vulnerabilities in current data protection practices and recommend actionable improvements
  • Integrate backup systems with IT environments while ensuring compatibility and minimal operational disruption
  • Automate backup procedures and monitor success rates, performance, and compliance with industry standards
  • Provide hands-on support during disaster recovery events and ensure swift restoration of critical systems
  • Partner with IT teams on monthly system maintenance downtime and resilience verification
  • Own the backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes for BRG’s cloud environments (Microsoft Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • Support overall systems engineering needs as required for both on-premise and cloud platforms

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems or any other related degrees.
  • Minimum five years' related experience in systems security, infrastructure resiliency, or a similar technical role.
  • Preferred but not required certifications could include Microsoft Azure Certifications (e.g., Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, etc.), Rubrik Certified (e.g., Rubrik Certified Systems Administrator), Druva Certifications, Commvault Certified Professional Certification or Cohesity Certified Administrator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of translating technical information for non-technical audiences
  • Strong cybersecurity awareness with a proactive mindset toward safeguarding data assets
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities beyond current systems constraints
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Proven experience supporting and maintaining infrastructure in hybrid environments (cloud/on-premise)
  • Scripting and automation proficiency (PowerShell, Azure CLI, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Azure, and AWS
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory (on-prem and Azure)
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and dynamic business requirements
  • Experience collaborating with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

Candidate must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.

Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000
