Summary of America House Program

Through the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, IREX administers the America House project, a network of welcoming, dynamic spaces in Kyiv, Odesa and Lviv that foster discussion and debate, provides opportunities for professional and personal skill building, and sparks creativity and collaboration around shared Ukrainian and U.S. values.

America House Odesa is a nourishing space full of professional and personal growth opportunities and your main resource in the Odesa region concerning American culture and education. The official online opening and presentation of America House Odesa took place on September 7, 2021.

AHO is an unbiased platform built around the U.S.-Ukraine common values for local communities' empowerment, idea sharing, and collaboration.

America House Odesa organizes a wide variety of activities, including English-language programs, skill-building workshops, cultural events, concerts and many more. America House is the space where one can think and work creatively, build cultural bridges, and become a changemaker.

Position Purpose Summary

Supports the management of a program(s) in the field; supports the development of project work products, to include but not limited to, program timelines, budgets, reports, and other products/documents as Identified.

The Senior Program Coordinator will work under the supervision of America House Director, in close collaboration with all program team members and will support America House Odesa program activities.

The Senior Program Coordinator will be responsible for the development of AHO programming, including but not limited to program timelines, budgets, reports, and other products as identified. In some cases, one may be responsible for an entire program, as assigned by America House Odesa Director.

IREX’s America House Odesa Senior Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all programs and activities at America House Odesa as well as liaison with America House Lviv and America House Kyiv programming teams.

Performs additional duties and tasks to meet the needs of the organization, team, or as assigned by America House Director.

Your Background & Skills:

Experience

• Bachelor's degree.
• Strong intercultural and communications skills.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Knowledge of youth and cultural organizations.
• Demonstrated high attention to details.
• Positive attitude and willingness to support and assist colleagues.
• Skilled at handling multiple tasks and able to maintain a calm, friendly demeanor under stressful situations.
• Experience in people coordination.
• Experience in organizing events and handling logistics.
• Familiarity with political, economic, social, and conflict issues in Ukraine.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong command of spoken/written English and Ukrainian.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks/projects in accordance with stated deadlines.

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be skilled at handling multiple tasks and able to adhere to tight deadlines.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted work authorization in Ukraine.

Your Daily Tasks:

• Develop program material, including research and design of strategic events, and ensured activities align with USG priorities.
• Monitor and administer day- to-day coordination of the program activities.
• Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of program activities.
• Design America House English language programming (Speaking Club, Chat Sessions, Book Club, Movie Nights, etc.) in close collaboration with English Language Resident.
• Provide input and write program reports, including weekly, quarterly, and annual reports and overviews in close collaboration with America House Kyiv and America House Lviv teams.
• Liaison with America House Kyiv and America House Lviv teams on co-designing nation-wide programs.
• Establish and strengthen local contacts, including partnerships with local NGOs, international organizations, and thought leaders.
• Interpret/translate for international guests and speakers at public events.
• Facilitate and run selected events at America House.
• Other duties as assigned.
