We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support quality assurance and testing functions for a mission-critical DoD medical readiness application. This role is vital to ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the application in support of medical personnel readiness tracking and operations. The Quality Assurance Engineer will work closely with development, cybersecurity, and quality teams to design and execute test protocols, identify defects, and validate that software releases meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute manual and automated test cases to verify functionality, security, and performance of medical readiness software modules.
- Perform quality inspections of software development outputs including source code reviews, system configurations, and data integrity checks.
- Support development and maintenance of verification and validation (V&V) plans, test reports, and traceability matrices in compliance with DoD and DHA quality standards.
- Coordinate with software developers and QA staff to investigate and document defects, inconsistencies, and deviations from functional requirements.
- Participate in Agile development sprints and provide detailed feedback to ensure early detection and resolution of quality issues.
- Conduct system integration and regression testing, ensuring all software updates are stable and secure across multiple environments.
- Assist in preparing documentation required for Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation and sustainment of the application’s Authority to Operate (ATO).
- Ensure compliance with DoD quality standards including Section 508 accessibility, HIPAA, and data protection protocols.
- Monitor quality metrics and provide analysis reports to management for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledgeable of DevOPs processes and activities
- Knowledgeable in automation testing
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role supporting software systems in a federal or DoD environment.
- Hands-on experience with software testing tools such as Selenium, Postman, JMeter, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps practices, and experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
- Understanding of DoD development standards, cybersecurity principles, and medical IT applications.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to document, track, and communicate test results effectively.
- Experience in requirements analysis and maintaining Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM).
- Working knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) and issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA).
Preferred Qualifications:
- ISTQB or equivalent software testing certification.
- Experience supporting Defense Health Agency (DHA) or Military Health System (MHS) applications.
- Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, or other healthcare data formats.
