Research Technician II
The University of Pittsburgh, Ophthalmology department, Betegon lab (https://betegonlab.science) is looking for a Research Technician II to contribute to our work on the development of novel Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vector systems for gene therapies.
BS in Biology, Biochemistry or related field, at least one year of undergraduate research experience.
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
The position entails assisting with general lab support (plate pouring, autoclaving…) as well as directly contributing to scientific projects. Among others, the candidate will perform expression of AAVs in mammalian cells and FPLC purification of proteins and AAVs.
This position would be a good fit for a recent graduate with undergraduate research experience that wants to expand their scientific experience before graduate or medical school.
The position may require some physical effort, for example, moving and lifting boxes containing laboratory supplies and equipment. The employee may also be required to sit and work at a laboratory bench or desk for extended periods of time.
