Student Personnel Officer:

Are you passionate about youth development, leadership, and student discipline management? Alternate Perspectives Inc. (API) is looking for a Student Personnel Officer to join the team. In this role, they oversee student behavior management, discipline, incentives, leadership programs, and student government initiatives in compliance with DOL and center policies.

What You'll Do:
- Lead Student Conduct & Behavior Management – Oversee the Behavior Management System, Code of Conduct, discipline, and incentives to promote a positive student environment.
- Ensure Fair & Consistent Discipline – Administer appropriate, fair, and consistent disciplinary actions while counseling students on behavior expectations.
- Support Student Leadership – Supervise the Student Government Association (SGA), peer courts, and leadership programs to foster student growth.
- Incident Management & Reporting – Monitor, coordinate, and submit Significant Incident Reports (SIRs) for behavior-related matters.
- Training & Staff Support – Conduct orientation and training sessions on student discipline policies for both students and staff.
- Audit & Compliance Oversight – Review and audit behavioral policies, compliance, and effectiveness of services while recommending improvements.
- Student Engagement & Motivation – Counsel and motivate students to develop strong personal, academic, and career habits.
- Collaboration Across Departments – Work closely with instructors, counselors, residential staff, and center leadership to ensure a unified approach to student success.
- Promote Career Success Standards – Model, monitor, and mentor students in leadership, responsibility, and professional behavior.
What We're Looking For:
- Post-secondary education credits OR 2+ years of experience working with youth (including 1 year in a supervisory role).
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience in student discipline, leadership programs, or behavior management.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills – Ability to train, mentor, and guide students and staff.
- Conflict Resolution & Counseling Skills – Ability to handle student behavioral issues with professionalism and fairness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Comfortable using Excel, Word, and reporting systems.
- Passion for Youth Development – A commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and empowering environment.
