Physical Requirements
Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs., sitting for extended periods of time; including sitting at computer workstation. Occasional risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job, loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, burns, cuts/punctures, combative/violent people, and animal handling (including carcasses).
Shift
If non-sworn, primarily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with flexibility for trainings, presentations, etc outside of these hours.
Job Summary
The Emergency Management Specialist is responsible for advancing the University’s emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. This position leads the development and coordination of emergency management programs, oversees planning and training initiatives, and supports real-time crisis operations.
Key responsibilities include managing projects, facilitating emergency exercises, producing after-action reports, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This position serves as a critical resource to campus departments; helping to ensure a coordinated and effective response to emergencies, while fostering a culture of readiness and continuous improvement.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
This position will require candidates to take a polygraph examination as part of the University Police Department’s employment process.
