About the Role:

The Mental Health Consultant will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance and therapeutic support to individuals and groups facing a variety of mental health challenges. This position is designed to deliver comprehensive clinical assessments and develop tailored intervention plans that promote emotional well-being and resilience. The consultant will collaborate closely with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to address behavioral health concerns and facilitate positive life transitions. Through evidence-based practices such as psychotherapy, play therapy, and crisis intervention, the consultant will help clients navigate complex mental health issues and improve their overall quality of life. Ultimately, this role aims to foster a supportive environment that encourages healing, growth, and sustained mental wellness within the community served.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related mental health field.
  • Valid licensure or certification to practice psychotherapy or counseling in the state of New York.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting clinical assessments and delivering psychotherapy services.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse client populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children and families using play therapy and family therapy modalities.
  • Background in facilitating group therapy sessions and community mental health programs.
  • Training or certification in specialized therapeutic approaches such as trauma-informed care or cognitive-behavioral therapy.
  • Familiarity with mental health challenges related to life transitions such as grief, divorce, or career changes.
  • Experience in a business services environment supporting employee mental health and wellness initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments to evaluate mental health status and identify client needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, group therapy, family therapy, and play therapy techniques.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during acute mental health episodes to ensure client safety and stabilization.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group sessions and workshops focused on behavioral health and life transitions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Stay current with emerging research and best practices in mental health to continuously enhance service delivery.
