CNC Manager Overview

 

The CNC Manager will be responsible for overseeing all CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) Machinists/machines and associated department employees in Brewton to safely and accurately perform a variety of operations to produce components (both common and exotics).  The CNC Manager would be responsible for loading and unloading parts, changing tooling, reading and interpreting blueprint design, programming the CNC machines, adjusting the machine settings for the needed specifications, production machine setups, training other machinists and personnel in the department, and reporting out to upper management. Other aspects of the job will be developing and improving precision machining, manufacturing processes, and department personnel by providing leadership and accountability.  The CNC Manager will ensure quality parts are made to customer specifications. The CNC Machine Lead will ensure safety, quality, and schedule requirements are met daily. This The CNC Manager will report to the Site Manager and will oversee both the wood CNC routers and paint as well as the CNC mills and metal processing. The CNC Manager will report to the Site Manager in Brewton. 

 

  • Interpret work orders and blueprints (materials, specifications, and geometric dimensions and tolerances) to machine products accurately and delegate tasks to CNC Machinist
  • Inspections of equipment, materials, and products to verify conformance to specifications and directs set-up and adjustments of machines. 
  • Designs layouts for new jobs using CNC Machining software, e.g. Mastercam/Enroute
  • Develops manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality specifications, plant safety procedures and OSHA and EHS regulations
  • Assist in creating policies and procedures in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department and employees
  • Prepares and loads raw materials and parts onto the machines 
  • Monitors the machines while they execute the tasks and makes any necessary adjustments to produce a better result 
  • Choosing, changing, and loading the correct cutting tools for the job 
  • Utilizes precision measuring tools to inspect and measure products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly and meets quality standards 
  • Documents actions by completing production logs 
  • Checks, cleans, and maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality 
  • Capable of setting up mills and lathes by installing fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications
  • Keep CNC Machinists on track to meet production goals and on time delivery to the customer. Utilize and schedule job duties for production workers. 
  • Training new CNC Machinist and CNC Operators and holding them accountable for their actions
  • Any other jobs assigned by manager

 

Qualifications

  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, certification or technical school.
  • 5 or more of experience working with CNC Machines or in a manufacturing plant 
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Previous experience with lathes, mills, press breaks, plasma machines, small hand tools. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities are a plus 
  • Learns and applies the latest relevant knowledge to the work 
  • Able to read and interpret work instructions
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Perform Math skills in standard and metric measurements
  • Able to accurately read/use a tape measure, calipers and micrometers
  • Possesses ethical behavior, attention to detail, self-motivation, precision, and enforces quality standards 
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Passion for doing a job well
  • A “self-motivated” team player
  • Able to work effectively in South Alabama climate conditions
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, crawl, squat, and climb without tiring easily
