Starting salary $75,000 commensurate with experience

JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Lead plays a key role within the Finance team, supporting the Assistant Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations. This position is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial statements, and ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates and participates in month-end and year-end close processes, including banking activities, expense reviews, journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of accurate financial statements.
  2. Oversees the administration of the chart of accounts and key financial documents, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
  3. Contributes to the design and documentation of automated workflows and financial reporting systems.
  4. Leads the development and implementation of business processes and policies to strengthen internal controls.
  5. Supports the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, audits, and compliance or tax filings.
  6. Monitors and provides oversight of organizational expenses.
  7. Collaborates with cross-functional teams within Finance and across the organization.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Experience and Skills

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in accounting or finance field, non-profit preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and v lookups.
  • Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks professionally and efficiently.
  • Ability to work under deadlines.
  • Highly proficient interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem-solving, diplomacy, negotiation, and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population.
