Job Description:


JSL is seeking a Sr. Engineer that will support the Gun Weapons System Replacement Program (GWSRP). The candidate will also perform the following tasks:

1. Support the Gun Weapons System Replacement Program (GWSRP) in removal/installation, refurbishment/overhaul, fleet technical assistance/maintenance, and fleet modernization of the various weapon systems under the cognizance of the GWSRP.

2. Support Shipboard GWSRP and functions at the GWSRP Repair Shop in San Diego and Norfolk, VA.

3. Provide technical drawings and technical procedures for the scheduled GWSRP pier side repair/refurbishment of Electro-Optic Directors, Daylight Imaging Sensors and Thermal Imaging Sensors [MK 46 Optical Sight Sensor (OSS) or MK 20 Electro-Optical Sight Sensor (EOSS) units].

4. Support MK 46 OSS and MK 20 EOSS projects that do not have a planned ship's availability but require GWSRP support for Fleet Technical Assistance requiring major assemblies or individual components to be removed, installed, repaired, refurbished or replaced on various weapon systems. All work will be in accordance with accepted workmanship practices and standards for waterfront maintenance.

5. Support the GWSRP Representatives or Ship Support Activity (SSA) Team Leaders in the removal/installation, refurbishment, fleet technical assistance/maintenance, fleet modernization, and Test and Evaluation of the MK 46 OSS, MK 20 EOSS, and MK 160 Gun Computer System (GCS) within the jurisdiction of the GWSRP. All work will be in accordance with accepted workmanship practices and standards for waterfront maintenance.

6. Repair, refurbish/overhaul components and sub-components of the MK 46 OSS and the MK 20 EOSS deployed on Surface Ships in the United States Naval and Coast Guard Fleets, as well as other Foreign Military Sales (FMS) countries.

7. Perform quality inspection and oversee the corrosion proofing and finish painting on all work performed by vendors

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:


• Candidate must possess the Gun Weapons System (MK 160) Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) with at least 3 years' experience

• Familiar with the use of basic hand tools

• Ability to lift 50lbs

• Experience reading, interpreting and developing Engineering Drawings/Blueprints and schematics

• Ability to write reports and review/develop technical documentation such as technical manuals as well as installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a variety of personnel at external activities

• Organization and prioritization skills

• Able to use MS Office Software Products such as Word and Excel

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Secret clearance

· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future an active U.S. Security Clearance level Secret


Preferred Qualifications:


• Mechanical Engineering Degree from accredited college/university

• Active Security Clearance


Security Clearance:


Applicants must have an active security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a DoD Government- granted security clearance.
