At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The Advanced Analytics Director is responsible for leading the Bank’s enterprise geospatial analytics strategy. This role plays a key part in shaping Midland States Bank’s physical distribution strategy—optimizing branch and ATM networks to improve capital deployment, customer access, and profitability.

The Director will develop and implement a forward-looking geospatial analytics roadmap, including the evaluation of spatial data platforms, deployment of advanced models, and integration of next-generation AI workflows to support strategic decision-making across the organization.

This high-impact, hands-on role requires strong collaboration across business units and provides critical insights that inform enterprise-wide initiatives.

Primary Accountabilities

Primary:

• Lead the development of advanced geospatial and predictive models to inform long-term market strategies, including expansion, consolidation, and repositioning of physical assets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Facilities, FP&A, IT, Marketing) to align analytics initiatives with enterprise growth objectives.
• Oversee the management and governance of core geospatial datasets, including customer behavior, transaction patterns, and competitive intelligence.
• Design and deploy decision-support tools and dashboards that embed spatial intelligence into daily operations across business lines.
• Serve as the bank’s subject matter expert on geospatial analytics, advising executive leadership on market optimization and network performance.
• Manage vendor relationships related to GIS platforms, spatial data providers, and analytics services to ensure strategic alignment.
• Champion a culture of innovation, performance, and continuous improvement in analytics practices.

Other:

• The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and a willingness to travel periodically to locations within the market as needed.
• May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• Doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in Data Science, Statistics, GIS, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 10 - 15 years of experience in applied analytics, with a strong emphasis on spatial data science and geospatial modeling.
• Deep domain expertise in retail banking, including branch/ATM distribution strategy, customer segmentation, and regulatory considerations.
• Proficiency in GIS platforms (e.g., Esri) and spatial analytics tools.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical insights into actionable strategies for senior leadership.
• Experience with network planning, trade area analysis, and site selection modeling.
• Familiarity with foundational models, LLMs, and multimodal geospatial AI.
• Prior experience in consulting, fintech, or multi-unit retail environments is highly desirable.
