Job Title: Financial Analyst

Department: Financial Decision Support

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

FLSA Status: Exempt

Grade: 10

 

Summary 

The Financial Analyst assists Senior Management in providing effective interpretation of financial metrics regarding all aspects of credit union operations to provide values added financial analysis to support decision making in alignment with strategic goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Analysis

  • Develop a cost benefit analysis, data modeling, and prepare recommendations to management for credit union products, services, policies, procedures, and branches regarding cost savings, profit generating opportunities and improvement strategies.
  • Provide ongoing financial analysis support of credit union operations to monitor anticipated versus actual results.
  • Identify trends and recommend improvement accordingly
  • Prep and Analyze budget 
  • Analyze Financial Statements for accuracy and potential growth opportunities Analyze current market for trends and potential opportunities
  • Forecast earnings and expenses 
  • Review Investment Accounting and Portfolio management 
  • Analyze branch performance and recommend areas of opportunity 

 

Data Management

  • Ensure the validation of the data between Symitar, Marquis, Wisdom, FICS, LSC, Visible Equity, Abrigo, CUERY, ARCU a, Callahan Raymond James Efolio and Baker Group
  • Establish databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing future plans and forecasts.

 

ALM

  • Develop and improve the measurement process of the balance sheet risk profile.
  • Maintain and improve the process to assemble data for import into ALM.
  • Develop forecast of net interest income exposure by modeling interest rate and volume sensitivity scenarios.
  • Develop the Credit Union’s earning forecast.
  • Assist management in analyzing financial statements from Wisdom which summarize the credit unions profit and loss from branches and products offered to report budget variance results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Develop complex profit plans, operating records, and financial statements.

  • Assists in any other areas as directed by the CFO, Senior Management and/or President/CEO.
  • Report all suspicious activity to the Risk Management department via the compliance group email

Education and/or Experience               

Experience- 2 to 5 years related experience

Education- 4-year degree or completion of a specialized course of study OR 5 years of related experience.

 

Language Skills                  

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, members, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills                  

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.  

 

Reasoning Ability                  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of accounting procedures, principles, and standards. Possess comprehensive knowledge of reconciliation.

 

Computer Skills                  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of software used to perform accounting. Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
