POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the implementation, training, and enforcement of the company safety program to ensure that all operations and activities are in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) standards, processes, and procedures and any other applicable safety and health standards, including incorporation of WSMR Command Safety Program and Regulations. Prepares, coordinates and administers Company occupational, industrial and environmental safety and accident prevention plans and programs to include preparation of job safety analyses for routine work assignments and provides safety input to all levels of operations. Plans should employ risk mitigation techniques to protect the workforce, the environment, USG and Company assets. Ensures safety training is adequate, timely, and well presented. Ensures compliance of environmental regulations to include Satellite Accumulation Points (SAPS); Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) control for materials; and handling of and personal protection requirements for hazardous materials. Manages SRS, LLC and subcontractor employees who are performing safety functions. Develops the capabilities of the safety and environmental staff and ensures new knowledge is acquired for the rapid change in skill set required of the position. This position reports directly to the Program Manager.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, along with solid administrative and team-building abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities are essential. The ideal candidate will have the aptitude to embrace challenges, manage risks, and take a proactive approach to overall safety. Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment—including extended hours, variable shifts, weekends, and holidays—is required.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a bachelor’s degree with four years’ experience in safety management, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational environment health and safety, or a related field where safety duties included making worksite assessments to determine risks, assessing potential hazards and controls, evaluating risks and hazard control measures, investigating incidents, maintaining and evaluating incident and loss records, and preparing emergency response plans.. Must be Board Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) or government equivalent (i.e. Safety and Occupational Health Program CP-12). Experience and knowledge of environmental programs in the field of Hazard Waste or knowledge of managing environmental programs, occupational health and safety, along with an established track record of success may be considered as a substitute for educational requirements.

Must have demonstrated computer skills, including a proficiency in using common word processing software, spreadsheet software, database applications, project and presentation software, and email, contract management and scheduling software.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience in the successful development and implementation of OSHA policies and procedures.
