Position Summary:

Gaven Industries manufactures highly engineered systems for electromagnetic and RF shielding, providing solutions for IEMI, EMI, RFI, and HEMP/EMP. Our diverse customer base spans multiple verticals with thousands of government and commercial customers worldwide. The Electrical and Test Engineer role combines the responsibilities of electrical design, development, and testing with advanced testing methodologies to ensure the highest quality of our shielding systems.

Job Responsibilities:

Electrical Engineering Duties:

  • Design, prototype, and test new circuits, focusing on high-current pulser iteration.
  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, and components through research programs and testing methods.
  • Develop electrical products, ensuring quality through rigorous testing methods and system capabilities assessment.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations and uphold the company's reputation.
  • Occasionally travel to job sites for on-site testing and engineering support.
  • Keep equipment operational and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Test Engineering Duties:

  • Make decisions in test approach and troubleshooting, interfacing with customers; act as lead to test technicians when on-site.
  • Develop testing methodologies and troubleshoot control/analysis testing software.
  • Test electrical filters using pulsed current injection equipment and ensure the resulting data is properly recorded and analyzed.
  • Perform shielding effectiveness testing to determine the performance of a shielded enclosure. If shielding issues are discovered, recommend rework to production personnel.
  • Troubleshoot to resolve issues such as incorrect equipment configurations, faulty data recording methods, and defective devices under test.
  • Evaluate design and ensure testability was considered during the design process.
  • Develop and implement improvements for ongoing work procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • General testing, measurement, and experiment or laboratory skills, including data collection and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software and the ability to create circuit models in simulation software such as SPICE.
  • Customer-oriented with strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and with a team.
  • Solid computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have or be eligible for a DoD Security Clearance (at the Secret level).
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the year.
  • Ability to occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 35 lbs.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong background in power electronics and electromagnetic compatibility preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility: No direct reports; may act as lead at customer site.

Working Conditions:

  • Office and laboratory environments.
  • Occasional travel to manufacturing sites or customer locations as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Extended periods of sitting or standing during testing procedures
