Adena Corporation is hiring a Superintendent to join our team in Gunnison, Colorado! This position is responsible for the daily on-site management of construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, safety protocols, and quality standards. This role coordinates field activities, manages subcontractors, and supports the overall project goals from preconstruction through closeout.

Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assists with the development of schedule, phasing, and logistics
  2. Assists with constructability review, when required
  3. Assists with the development of bid packages and scopes of work
  4. Assists with the bid, awarding, and procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
  5. Responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating the day-to-day field activities of the project including subcontractor management, project cost controls, and implementation of project schedule
  6. Ensures adequate manpower on the project
  7. Directs field forces according to schedule and phasing plan
  8. Coordinates project deliverables
  9. Properly manages time and material work
  10. Understands project budgets and manages field expenses based on budget
  11. Participates in monthly schedule updates
  12. Produces and distributes look ahead schedules based on project schedules
  13. Ensures quality control program is implemented including punch list
  14. Actively resolves field issues
  15. Produces daily reports and gathers subcontractor daily reports
  16. Participates in OAC meetings
  17. Chairs regular foreman meetings and ensures minutes are taken
  18. Properly maintains and files project documents
  19. Ensures the correct documents are available in the field
  20. Ensures accurate as-built drawings are maintained
  21. Ensures the security of jobsite
  22. Manages the permit and inspection process and all building code compliance
  23. Reviews and understands the owner contract and the responsibilities of the agreement
  24. Reviews and understands the subcontracts and PO’s executed for the project
  25. Trains, mentors, and educates the Field Engineers and Assistant Superintendents working under the Superintendent
  26. Continually analyzes and mitigates project risk
  27. Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures
  28. Participates in RFQ/RFP responses as needed
  29. Participates in project interviews as needed
  30. Assists with finding and developing future project opportunities
  31. Adheres to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment
  32. Performs other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  1. High School diploma or GED required
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred or the equivalent work experience
  3. Strong computer experience including Microsoft Word and Excel required
  4. 30 Hours OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
  5. Advanced ability to read building blueprints
  6. VISTA accounting and project management software experience preferred
  7. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  8. Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites which may require stays away from home
  9. Ability to perform on a regular basis in outside weather conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
  10. Strong leadership abilities
  11. Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions
  12. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  13. Ability to work in a team environment
