Summary/Objective:
The function of the Heavy Equipment Lift Operator is to operate and maintain heavy equipment necessary for moving and transferring materials including loading and unloading large items for shipping. Participates in all aspects of the daily operations of the shops including but not limited to manufacturing operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure operations are in compliant with all OSHAA, VOSHA, and Atlantic safety protocol
- Daily operation of heavy equipment including forklifts, lulls, telescope booms, loaders, and yard tractors. (CDL Class A and NCCCO mobile crane not required, but a plus)
- Daily inspections and maintenance of heavy equipment, lifting devices, and hardware.
- Assists in lifting, positioning and securing material and equipment during handling and for shipping
- Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Evaluate conditions at and around the lift site to ensure that a safe lift can be achieved.
- Comfortable working at heights
- Take action to avoid potential hazards
- Complete the necessary pre task work sheets when necessary
- Assist in the daily operations of jobsite, and associated equipment as directed
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and brings problems to supervisor, safety or HR
- Performs other duties as assigned

Required:
- 3-5 years of experience operating lifts and rigging loads or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Preferred Certified and Qualified NCCCO Telescopic Crane – Swing Cab (TLL) (OSHA Equivalent)
- Preferred Certified and qualified NCCCO Mobile Crane Operator (OSHA Equivalent)
- Preferred Certified and qualified NCCCO Signal Person (OSHA Equivalent)
- Preferred Certified and qualified NCCCO Rigger Leve I (OSHA Equivalent)
- Preferred Certified and qualified NCCCO Rigger Level II (OSHA Equivalent)
- Must have experience working with heavy loads
- Able to work within a manufacturing and outdoor environment
- Ability to perform calculations necessary for safe lifting and rigging
- Operate and maintain all lifting equipment with current necessary certifications
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices
- Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
- Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned, to include working varying schedules and require client-specific safety standards
The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment:
- May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
- May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
- May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights
Physical Demands:
- This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, straps and shackles, hand and power tools
- While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Coordination to use all equipment controls
Travel:
- May require travel (typically not overnight)
Preferred:
- Class A CDL or experience
- Prior military experience
