We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Integrated Business Operations Instructional Systems Designer to lead the planning, design, and creation of dynamic training content and cutting-edge knowledge management tools. This pivotal role will optimize our client's End-to-End (E2E) Business Environment by developing highly engaging and effective learning solutions that drive organizational objectives and success. As a Senior Instructional Systems Designer, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), advising on and producing innovative training and knowledge management solutions. You'll act as an integrated instructional design resource, collaborating directly with company and client executives, senior leaders, managers, and project teams. This role demands a blend of strategic foresight and operational execution, requiring you to establish and manage expectations across diverse business and technical teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact our client's operational efficiency and effectiveness by transforming how knowledge is shared and acquired.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Design: Exercise leadership in the full lifecycle of instructional design, from needs assessment to evaluation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and E2E business optimization.
  • Content & Tool Development: Plan, design, and create dynamic training content and knowledge management tools utilizing a vast range of modalities, applications, and instructional principles to enhance business operations.
  • SME & Advisory Role: Serve as a primary Subject Matter Expert, providing expert guidance and producing highly engaging and effective trainings and knowledge management tools that support the adoption of new business practices, processes, and decision tools.
  • Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with an integrated team of multidisciplinary experts to assess and determine the most effective design and creation of knowledge management tools.
  • Expectation Management: Strategically establish and manage expectations with both business and technical stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration of training and knowledge solutions.
  • Best Practice Implementation: Apply advanced knowledge of training design and development best practices, methodologies, tools, and techniques, including ADDIE, Discovery-Based Learning, and Bloom's Taxonomy.
  • Innovation & Optimization: Leverage a deep understanding of adult learning theories, critical skills and behavior assessments, and targeted remediation efforts to continually optimize learning outcomes.
  • Technology & Application Proficiency: Utilize a broad spectrum of authoring tools and applications such as Articulate (Rise 360, Storyline 360), Camtasia, SnagIt, PowToons, and Vyond to develop compelling and interactive content.
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough research and design (R&D) to inform training strategies, considering factors like complexity bias and saturation points in learning.
  • Operations Support:  Support various customer programs ensuring training and development measures are met and completed and are consistent with position descriptions and personnel assignments
    • Coordinates and tracks required training and certifications
    • Tracks compliance with job-related training programs and conditions of employment requirements and prepares documentation necessary for waivers of certain positions
    • Independently researches and provides advice on defense acquisition policies and procedures, Competency practices and issues dealing with workforce recruitment, training, and certification
 
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in instructional design and development, with a focus on producing highly engaging and effective training solutions.
  • Extensive experience in planning, designing, and creating dynamic training content across varied modalities and delivery methods.
  • Deep understanding and practical application of adult learning theories and instructional design principles.
  • Proven expertise in instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE, Discovery-Based Learning, and Bloom’s Taxonomy.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive needs assessments and analyses, define learning objectives, and develop targeted remediation efforts.
  • Strong background in storyboarding and developing effective eLearning solutions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex business and technical information into clear, concise, and engaging learning content.
  • Ability to support in-person engagements in Quantico, VA and/or client locations on a regular basis.
             
Desired Qualifications (Preferred):
  • Proficiency with industry-standard authoring tools and applications, including:
    • Articulate (Rise 360, Storyline 360)
    • Camtasia
    • SnagIt
    • PowToons
    • Vyond
  • Familiarity with concepts like Complexity Bias, Saturation Point, and Levels of Learning.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within integrated teams and manage stakeholder expectations at all levels.
