Position Summary:
Leadership role supporting a wide range of responsibilities primarily across Business and Corporate Development for NeoGenomics. Position is also a contributor to the overall company short and long-term business strategy. The leader has ownership to identify/seek out, evaluate, facilitate, and manage partnerships, licensing, and tuck-in acquisition opportunities for adjacent technologies, products, and businesses that advance NeoGenomics’s market positioning and avenues for long-term sustainable growth. Expected to seek out and identify new business opportunities within the diagnostics/life sciences space or adjacent areas, from early-stage technologies to established businesses of all sizes. The individual conducts a variety of market and business due diligence activities and prepares reporting and analysis for senior management. They employ NeoGenomics deal development processes to advance opportunities, and lead negotiation and deal execution of select transactions.
Core Responsibilities:
- Become a primary steward of NeoGenomics’s established rigorous deal development process
- Organize, facilitate, and track opportunity pipeline evolution
- Drive, lead, and organize comprehensive deal due diligence efforts; perform due diligence and post-closing acquisition (or missed targets) post-mortems
- Build and cultivate market relationships; analyze industry prospects by gathering information about growth, competitors, and market share possibilities
- Conduct financial analysis and build relationships with sellers and intermediaries
- Directly support key aspects of the Company's acquisition efforts, including creating acquisition strategies and integration plans, including early transaction stage due diligence, financial and valuation modeling, and NeoGenomics resource scoping/planning and budget to internalize capabilities
- Coordinate with corporate executives and sales and marketing professionals to review current market trends to propose new business ideas that can improve revenue and margins
- Develop and maintain complex financial models which support management decisions to act upon corporate initiatives and acquisition targets
- Actively manage NeoGenomics’s incubation and partnership programs as a key long-term driver for capability development within the company
- Partner with the executive Core Team to drive corporate strategy and track progress against pre-defined business development objectives and priority initiatives
- Participate in cross-functional business/market intelligence and product roadmap strategy initiatives, assisting in the preparation of monthly/quarterly research, reviews, and deal sourcing on external market business opportunities
- In partnership with the deal finance team, guide and perform forecasting, valuation and scenario analysis, and partnership portfolio-level capital allocation
- Foster and catalyze an entrepreneurial, innovation-oriented, growth culture throughout the company and across all teams and functions
- Identify, propose, and develop novel strategic partnership opportunities
- Rigorously develop deal theses based on cross-functional alignment and diligence
- Periodically participate in investor conferences, investor meetings, office visits and roadshows
- Perform market and customer research, competitive and financial research, cost studies and benchmarking to support financial and operational assumptions
- Assist members of the finance team and other functional teams in developing processes and policies for evaluating new business ventures
- Prepare materials and present to executive Core Team leadership and other stakeholders as needed
- Work cross-functionally with other business units through deal sourcing, qualification, diligence, negotiation and integration activities
Experience, Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
- MBA, MS, MD, PhD or other technical, finance, or business qualifications preferred
- 12+ years of progressive experience, including in public companies
- Strong background in diagnostics, laboratory, and/or life sciences is required
- Depth in Oncology is required, with a strong preference towards candidates who’ve had business and/or corporate development roles in the precision oncology and/or diagnostic testing segment of the Oncology market
- Experience in clinical informatics and data-enabled businesses is desirable
- Experience and strong track record in deal sourcing, negotiation, diligence and execution
- Experience in professional services firms (e.g. top tier investment banking, strategy/management consulting, venture capital/private equity) is a plus
- Deep understanding of, and experience with, clinical development strategies and evidence evaluation, LDT and FDA regulatory processes, and reimbursement strategies including ADLT designations, MolDX LCDs, and FDA/CMS pathways
- Ability to interact, collaborate and communicate with cross-functional leadership teams, the executive Core Team, the Board of Directors, and investment community
Travel: As needed – likely 25-50% on average and depending on location
