Merchants Fleet is seeking a Communications Manager to lead the development and execution of our internal and external communications strategy. In this highly visible role, you will be a key player in aligning company messaging with business goalsenhancing our brand presence, supporting client and investor engagement, and strengthening employee connection across the organization. 

 

This position sits within our Marketing Team and plays a strategic role in driving communications that directly support our sales growth, marketing initiatives, and value creation goals. 

 

Location: Merchants Fleet Headquarters 

 

What Youll Be Responsible For: 

External Communications Strategy 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with marketing, sales, and organizational priorities. 
  • Collaborate with internal teamsincluding the CEO, Finance, Sales, HR, Operations, Client Success, and Productto source and prioritize key initiatives and innovations. 
  • Partner with Finance leadership to support investor relations communications, including earnings statements and investor presentations. 
  • Optimize messaging based on engagement data, business goals, and market insights. 

Client & Prospect Communication 

  • Lead the development and distribution of client newsletters and ad-hoc updates that highlight value, insights, and offerings. 
  • Collaborate with Client Experience and Sales Operations to surface client success stories and best practices. 
  • Use performance metrics and client feedback to refine messaging strategy and improve outcomes. 

Value Creation Support 

  • Create and manage content that supports the companys Value Creation Plan, including custom messaging by client archetype, data-driven insights, and case studies. 
  • Guide and mentor team members in delivering content that meets high-quality standards and strategic alignment. 

Internal Communications 

  • Design and manage a holistic internal communications strategy that supports company culture, change initiatives, and employee engagement. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal communications across departments. 
  • Work with HR and leadership to deliver consistent messaging on organizational updates, strategic initiatives, employee events, and cultural programs. 
  • Oversee messaging for internal channels including emails, intranet posts, video messages, and leadership materials. 
  • Lead communication efforts during times of organizational change or high-impact events. 

Content Development & Editorial Oversight 

  • Write, edit, and manage a variety of content formats including blog posts, email campaigns, product collateral, and internal communications. 
  • Ensure consistency in voice and messaging across all internal and external platforms. 
  • Maintain and manage a content calendar aligned with marketing campaigns and company milestones. 

 

What You Bring to the Role: 

  • 57 years of experience in communications, marketing, or content, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity. 
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills across a variety of audiences. 
  • Proven experience managing both internal and external communications to meet business goals. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and understanding of content performance metrics. 
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously. 
  • Experience with incident response and reputation management communications.
