The School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time, appointment-stream (non-tenure track) Assistant Professor position in Business Analytics starting Fall 2025.
Instructional Excellence and Subject Expertise
The position supports the instructional needs of the Business Analytics and Operations (BAO) area and requires a strong commitment to teaching and student engagement, supported by a proven track record. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Business Analytics and at least five years of relevant experience in Business Analytics. Teaching responsibilities span undergraduate, master’s, and executive education programs in areas such as business analytics, operations research, and operations management. Desired strengths include optimization, simulation, data-driven modeling, and the integration of AI tools to enhance decision-making. The faculty member may also develop new courses and update existing ones to meet evolving program needs. Proficiency in machine learning, data visualization, data mining, and text mining is highly valued.
Strategic Engagement and Impact
Collaboration with BAO colleagues and industry partners is vital to advancing the School’s applied learning mission and strengthening ties with the regional business and technology community. The faculty member will support student co-curricular activities, contribute to service at both school and university levels, and mentor students on applied analytics projects. As Business Analytics continues to grow as a strategic priority, the successful candidate will also foster cross-program partnerships. The faculty member is expected to maintain AACSB qualification status: Scholarly Academic (SA), Practice Academic (PA), or Scholarly Practitioner (SP).
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the area of Business Analytics, Operations Research/Management, and/or AI application to enhance decision-making.
