General Summary: The Office of Career-Integrated Learning (OCIL) is part of a new strategic vision for incorporating work-based learning into academic offerings at the College. This vision is in line with MCC's focus to transform lives and shape futures.

The Coordinator of OCIL/Recruitment and Retention supports the department's vision by recruiting students for MCC's Learn & Earn program and other work-based learning opportunities, and providing career-related services and resources to students. staff, and faculty. The coordinator will serve as a champion for career integrated learning, raising visibility and promoting the value of paid work-based learning experiences that are aligned to students' fields of study, and supporting students to successfully pursue those opportunities. The coordinator will also be responsible for educating all MCC stakeholders on career integrated learning programs, and providing guidance to MCC stakeholders on available career development tools, services, and activities. The coordinator, working with the other OCIL staff, will also facilitate students' early completion of foundational career development tasks including: drafting resumes and cover letters, developing an elevator pitch, participating in mock interviews, attending career/job fairs, and learning to effectively conduct a job search.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop attractive recruitment materials and methods to engage students in career integrated learning opportunities, working with MCC's marketing department and OCIL staff.
  • Deliver engaging workshops in-person and virtually to educate students, staff, faculty, and community members on the career integrated learning opportunities available at MCC, their benefits, and how students can participate in them.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and deliver on-campus and virtual career integrated learning information sessions to students, staff, faculty and other MCC stakeholders, with the goal of increasing student participation in work-integrated learning opportunities, especially paid part-time and full-time positions aligned to students' fields of study.
  • Collaborate with key faculty in each department to increase awareness and participation in career integrated learning opportunities, and to integrate career-related content into classroom activity (e.g. helping to identify employers for classroom discussions; developing facilitated reflection sessions linking workplace activities to career goals.)
  • Collaborate with designated OCIL staff in the development and delivery of individual and group career exploration programming, including guiding students on the use of MCC's Focus2 career exploration tool; support the Academic Advising and Admissions Offices to make students aware of career integrated opportunities; making class visits to career courses to support career decision-making, and any other tasks that supports the work of helping students connect career goals with current academic and work-based activities.
  • Collaborate with designated OCIL staff to deliver the following career preparation programming: resume and cover letter writing, interview practice, professional etiquette, and job search skills.
  • Work collaboratively with other OCIL staff on the development of new program/event initiatives ensuring detailed program/event learning outcomes and assessment plans are developed and implemented.
  • Maintain data systems to track student engagement in all career integrated activities.
  • Collaborate with OCIL staff in assessment the effectiveness of OCIL functions, including through surveys and focus groups.


Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree with three years of demonstrated successful experience in student engagement, career-related programming and overseeing student-centered programs and programming. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted for the required degree listed.

  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the community college mission and student population.

  • Demonstrated experience advising and coaching students in a higher education setting.

  • Experience with career counseling and career assessment tools.

  • Superior interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

  • Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, implement, and maintain the technology systems necessary to support the work.

  • Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, advisory, and/or design data and information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills a plus: Spanish or Khmer.

Salary Range: $77,358 is the starting annual salary for a grade 06 MCCC Professional Staff; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
