Job Description:

SUMMARY:

The Computer Operator I will provide customer service and support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives and meeting the needs of the MaD Soldier Network Resource Center (SNRC).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures that SNRC is open or closed at the necessary and scheduled times of operation.

• Ensures that SNRC equipment (i.e., printers, shredders, etc.) and the surrounding area are kept clean.

• Ensures that soldiers sign in and out properly when wanting to use any workstations in the computer lab.

• Tracks, monitors, and assigns computer stations to waiting personnel and soldiers wanting to use the SNRC.

• Assists users with basic logon issues. Guides users to the next level of support if problems are unable to be solved at a Computer Operator level 1.

• Answers basic questions asked by soldiers and personnel relating to SNRC subject only.

• Assists users with printing and scanning.

• Maintains, projects and requests supplies when needed for the daily operation of the SNRC to proper personnel and departments.

• Verifies basic network activity problems and promptly forwards any issues to the IMS department.

• Creates and forwards reports using Microsoft Office products to help track SNRC usage to the supervisor upon request.

• Ensures that visitors of the SNRC adhere to all usage and safety policies.

• Understand and comply with all Performance Work Statement requirements.

• Adherence to all TLC Policies accessed through Deltek Costpoint via the following path.

• This position supports the DOD on a federal installation and the candidate must be available to work at the assigned physical location during business hours.

o 8:00AM-4:30PM (M-F)

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Occasionally fills out work orders using an internal ticket system to help resolve IT related issues.
  • Other duties as assigned/approved by management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Essential :

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Proficient experience with Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 10, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft Outlook 2007 and 2010.

• Knowledge of military rank structure.

• Will use own judgment in choosing the proper procedure for each task.

• Monitors and operates computers or multiple computers in accordance with operations instructions to operate data.

• Test new or modified programs and assist in modifying systems or programs.

Preferred :

• Prior experience working with/for the US Military, a plus.

Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources. Ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to customers, internal and external, clients and other employees in the organization. Ability to interpret instructions and information and explain to others in the performance of this job in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for: bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time, operating through extended periods of high stress. Must possess visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; and the manual dexterity to operate a cell phone, handheld radio, telephone, and keyboard.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS:

This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on-site. Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Routinely work 8(+) hours per day but w ill require having flexed hours to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and Holidays. Must be able to work in fast paced, multi-task environment.

Transportation & Access: You must have reliable transportation to and from work and be able to access military installations.

Background & Drug Screening: Employment requires passing a background check and per-employment drug screening. Random drug and alcohol testing may also occur without prior notice.

Time sheets: Record your actual work hours daily and ensure your entries are accurate and timely to support smooth operations.
