Laboratory Research Technician
New graduates are encouraged to apply! The Roman lab in the Department of Human Genetics is looking for a Laboratory Research Technician to join our team. We use cell culture and zebrafish models to understand the molecular and cellular basis of inherited vascular malformations, with the long-term goal of developing targeted therapies for these diseases. Our technical expertise includes basic molecular biology, genome editing, protein biochemistry, developmental biology, and confocal microscopy. Job qualifications include a fundamental understanding of genetics and molecular biology, some wet-lab experience (either as an undergraduate or post-baccalaureate), and a passion for problem solving and basic research. The successful candidate must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Essential functions include: performing a variety of research techniques.
This position is relatively sedentary. Most activities can be performed while seated. However, the position will require daily use of a footstool or small stepladder, lifting of fish tanks (up to 11 pounds), and travel to different laboratories on campus. Additionally, the candidate must have good eyesight and hand-eye coordination to perform microinjection.
