TheManager, Site Reliability Engineering Role

This role will grow and develop Qlik's US team of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) located in various remote locations in the United States.

The team's primary responsibility is to achieve high levels of reliability for the Qlik SaaS product offerings through sustainable operations and platform automation as well as run the major incident response process. The US team also specifically supports the Qlik Federal Government Cloud (FEDRAMP and similar) environments.

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the SRE team as well as driving initiatives to improve reliability and enhance the platform. Your team will build and provide tools that empower all teams to meet availability goals and create self-healing services following industry leading practices. You will provide visibility to areas that need improvement and coordinate efforts to address these. You'll report directly to the Regional Director SRE North Americas region.

Here's how you'll be making an impact:

  • Supporting high uptime and reliability of Qlik SaaS offerings 24x7 for customers.
  • Leading the US team based in various remote locations in United States of America and coordinates with peers and software engineers across geographies for reducing toil (manual, repetitive work) as well as defining and tracking SLOs (operational goals).
  • Building, supporting, and maintaining the FEDRAMP production instances consistent with related government regulations.
  • Running incident management processes during working hours using a follow-the-sun rotation when appropriate. Incident management may expand to additional hours in the future.
  • Running the Kubernetes platform and common infrastructure components leveraging strong knowledge of cloud native technologies and AWS.
  • Translating business and operational strategy into technical solutions by designing and executing an architecture that supports the strategy.
  • Recruiting and developing talented SREs in US while building a strong team culture that is highly collaborative, focused on learning, and continuously making improvements.

We're looking for a teammate with:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of software development and operational leadership experience providing high reliability for complex, enterprise-level product offerings.
  • 3+ years of experience running services in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; experience strongly preferred working with AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Strong track record of managing a group independently while working with peers and partners across geographies in EMEA, APAC (India) and Canada.
  • Solid fundamentals around understanding microservice architecture as well as building and running distributed software systems.
  • Experience with common cloud native infrastructure components such as MongoDB, Solace, Splunk, Redis, etc. in a shared environment.
  • Experience running incident management processes and setting up sustainable on-call practices. Ability to dig in post-incident to identify repair items with partners and drive those to resolution.
  • Proven ability to hire and retain top talent in the region. Leads by example with the ability to collaborate with peers and partners.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $200,000 USD per year. Final compensation offered by Qlik will be based on factors such as the candidate's location, job-related skills, education, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Qlik offers a comprehensive benefits package, eligibility requirements for benefits will be controlled by applicable Qlik plan documents and policies.
