Senior Government Accountant

Fairfax, VA

MANDEX, Inc. currently has a need for a Senior Government Financial Accountant and potential future Comptroller to join our HQ team in Fairfax, VA.

The Senior Financial Accountant will support the current Comptroller with MANDEX’s accounting functions including cost, payables, receivables, and reporting to ensure the smooth running of the business from a financial and contract compliance perspective.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented professional who takes the initiative and is a team player.

This is an in-house position, and remote work is not authorized.

The salary range is $90K to $105K.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparing financial reports and analyses for external entities and for senior management, including, but not limited to monthly financial statements and annual audits.
  • Monitoring budgets to ensure compliance with authorized expenditure levels and accuracy of projected revenue for possible overruns and shortfalls of revenue.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of financial reporting, planning, and budgeting systems.
  • Maintaining an accurate and timely understanding of governmental accounting principles and practices, as well as associated best practices.
  • Managing financial control mechanisms to monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure adherence to financial goals.
  • Collaborating with management to identify and assess project risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinating with executive management and shareholders to gather financial information, analyze data and general and special reports.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements as well as internal Company policies and procedures.
  • Work with the external tax accountants in the preparation of quarterly estimates and annuals returns,
  • Providing guidance and support to the Controller regarding financial planning, budget allocation and risk assessment.
  • Function as the liaison to DCAA and DCMA for financial matters. Prepare the annual provisional indirect rate request and the Incurred Cost Submission (ICS) to DCAA.
  • Function as liaison to the corporate bank in preparing monthly, semi-annual, and annual reports.
  • Function as liaison to the corporation insurance broker on non-benefit police.
  • Assist with proposal pricing.
  • Protecting operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Collaborating closely with the Controller and payroll department to ensure successful continuity of operations and management of special projects, as assigned.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • 5 – 8 years of progressive experience using accounting applications or fiscal principles and practices.
  • Experience with government accounting practice and procedures is required.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with budgeting and forecasting; ability to analyze and manipulate data and resolve problems.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA or CMA preferred
