Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Accountant provides critical support to the Accounting Manager and Corporate Controller in managing the financial operations of the company. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and efficient financial processes while proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies. The Senior Accountant must be highly detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of independent problem-solving.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain general ledger accounts in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Perform and review month-end close activities, ensuring journal entries are accurate and well-documented.
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Conduct thorough expense analysis and variance analysis, providing insights to management.
- Generate daily, monthly, and ad-hoc financial reports with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support key accounting functions, including Credit, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
- Research and interpret financial data to answer accounting and operational questions.
- Document and continuously improve accounting procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Utilize SAP and other financial software to perform accounting functions effectively.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Identify and correct errors proactively, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information and corporate plans.
- Contribute to team success by improving financial processes and systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in corporate accounting projects and audits as needed.
- Ensure all reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements are thoroughly reviewed before submission.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Stay updated with industry standards by attending professional workshops and networking events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA candidate with at least one section passed preferred.
- Minimum of five years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
- SAP experience is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly intermediate Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas).
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors independently.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to research discrepancies and follow financial transactions from inception to resolution.
- Demonstrated accountability and ability to take ownership of tasks.
- Effective time management and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain financial concepts effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
