Your Mission in Action
The Medical Coordinator LVN coordinates medical and dental care for Unaccompanied Children (UC), including administering medications, arranging medical assessments, and ensuring prescribed treatments are followed. This role adheres to agency policies, licensing, and regulatory standards. Â
Responsibilities- Coordinate initial medical screenings with primary care provider within ORR timeframesÂ
- Coordinate routine health screenings and assessments, administer prescribed medication and treatment, coordinate medical appointments, and manage nutritional needs to ensure timely and comprehensive care for each UCÂ
- Coordinates administration of immunizations and TB screenings per ORR or local Health Department requirementsÂ
- Support infection-control policies and procedures as well as conducting staff training on medication dispensing and Psychotropic medicationsÂ
- Facilitate trainings for staff, such as dispensing prescribed, over the counter and psychotropic medication, blood borne pathogens, and CPR/First AidÂ
- Work closely with the Program Leadership and staff to ensure UC are receiving the highest quality of care and the program is operating efficiently and effectively and is meeting the goals and objectives of the program and the needs of the UCÂ
- Coach and support staff to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to optimize performance, ensure established program goals, and achieve operational excellenceÂ
- Communicate with direct reports in periodic one-on-one meetings
- Organize and deliver regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate present, on-going, and future updates of pertinent information, projects, and initiativesÂ
- Work closely with management team to interview, hire, and onboard new employees who are strong cultural fits for UpbringÂ
- Work in collaboration with leadership and the People and Culture Team to arrange training; when needed, coordinate and/or provide in-service training for staff developmentÂ
- Regularly review employee performance, including goals and progress, to provide developmental feedback: use applicable agency development tools to facilitate growth and development in staffÂ
- Draft and issue the 90-day and annual evaluations, along with supporting documentation, as per established procedures; work in collaboration with staff to set goals during evaluation periodsÂ
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Bilingual (English and Spanish based on service area and service population)
- Associate degree in medical or sciences field; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of education requirement
- Current LVN license to practice in the state of Texas
- Three (3) years of nursing experience
- One (1) year of child welfare experienceÂ
- One (1) year of supervisory experience
- Must be 21 years of age or older per licensing requirements
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and relationship management skillsÂ
- Ability to build trust with UC and internal stakeholdersÂ
- Strong documentation, time management, organizational, and conflict resolution skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and UC information systemsÂ
Preferred Qualifications
- Nursing experience with pediatrics, adolescents, and OBGYN patients highly preferredÂ

Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
- Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to childrenÂ
- Position requires frequent standing, walking and time in units/cottages which are area where children reside
- Lift, push, pull, move up to 125 lbs
