Responsibilities

At SAM, we employ a diverse team of subject matter experts, fully equipped to provide training to technicians, enabling them to learn, grow, and excel in their career.  On any given day, team members will be working to classify point clouds for power line system design, mapping roadways for expansion, extracting ground data to develop renewable sites, and 3D modeling pipes, substations or highway bridges.  We utilize a multitude of platforms for LiDAR and survey data acquisition, including, but not limited to fixed wing aircraft, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), mobile mappers, terrestrial scanners, and traditional survey methodologies. 

  • Daily processing of geospatial data, including evaluating accuracy and sufficiency, and ensuring compliance with applicable project and industry standards related to aerial mapping products.
  • Classification of LiDAR point clouds.
  • Compilation of mapping features from LiDAR point clouds.
  • Compilation of mapping features from orthophotography.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and work history, demonstrated integrity, and personal accountability for contributing to the team's success.
  • Experience with any of the following is preferred:
    • CAD Microstation (Open Roads Designer a plus), AutoDesk Civil3D 
    • GIS ArcGIS Desktop, Global Mapper
    • Spreadsheets
    • Orthophotography
    • LiDAR Point Clouds (highly preferred)
    • LiDAR Classification (highly preferred)
    • Mapping from LiDAR or Imagery (highly preferred)
    • Basic understanding of Geomatics and Surveying
  • Excellent computer and technical skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Transportation (DOT) experience preferred.
  • Microstation and TerraSolid experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong listening, writing and verbal communication skills.
