The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for digital communications and marketing efforts for a portfolio of online non-credit professional education programs, specifically content development strategies and content creation. They will also provide support to an adjacent team marketing a portfolio of graduate programs, as needed. The individual must be a strong writer, with a developed understanding of SEO strategies and tactics, while also being a strong social content creator with demonstrated ability to create multimedia assets that engage audiences across digital channels. The Digital Content Specialist will be responsible for SEO-driven content development and ideation across platforms including web pages, landing pages, emails, text messaging, social media, videos and video scripts, and digital advertising to support SEO, marketing and lead generation efforts. The Digital Content Specialist will work alongside communication, marketing, enrollment and higher education leaders and faculty to identify and develop content that supports university enrollment goals and aligns with the Villanova brand.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with and support the UCM Director of Adult and Professional Education Marketing with digital communications and marketing efforts for a portfolio of online non-credit professional education programs, specifically content development strategies and content creation.
  • Provide support to an adjacent team marketing a portfolio of graduate programs, as needed.
  • Must be a strong writer, with a developed understanding of SEO strategies and tactics, while also being a strong social content creator with demonstrated ability to create multimedia assets that engage audiences across digital channels.
  • Responsible for SEO-driven content development and ideation across platforms including web pages, landing pages, emails, text messaging, social media, videos and video scripts, and digital advertising to support SEO, marketing and lead generation efforts.
  • Work alongside communication, marketing, enrollment and higher education leaders and faculty to identify and develop content that supports university enrollment goals and aligns with the Villanova brand.
  • Participate and provide data for timely discussions of content performance metrics and adjust/update/optimize content as needed based on analytics and SEO management tool performance.
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • The candidate must have 3 or more years of digital marketing experience in content development. Must have demonstrated metrics-driven success in achieving goals and objectives.
  • The individual selected must be a team player with strong communication, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • The individual must be an excellent relationship builder within the organization and with external vendors.
  • Must have proven experience developing content for digital media platforms and ability to manage several projects simultaneously, in a deadline-driven environment.
  • The individual must have strong organization, multi-tasking abilities with superior attention to detail.
  • Must be a flexible, upbeat, energetic self-starter who enjoys collaboration.
  • The individual must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the University and a commitment to the University’s Catholic/Augustinian heritage, the advancement of its mission and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
  • The individual must have proven expertise writing and editing compelling content to generate awareness, web traffic and convert leads.
  • Strong understanding of the importance of SEO in the lead generation process.
  • The individual must be highly proficient in digital advertising, i.e. Meta, Google, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Candidate should have a good understanding of SEO and digital marketing analytics tools, i.e. SEMRush, Siteimprove, or similar tools.
  • Experience in video creation optimized for social media platforms required.
  • Understanding of PC and MAC platforms; server technology.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing, communications, advertising, journalism or a related field.
  • Certification in digital marketing or marketing technology a plus.
  • Experience within an academic environment preferred.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and some holidays as the demands of the job dictate.

This position falls within salaried grade 14 and the range for this position is $57,200-71,500. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
