The BMS (Building Management Systems) Service Technician II is a client-facing, mid- to high-level field role responsible for independently delivering BMS service projects at data center locations across Central and Northern New Jersey. This includes troubleshooting, integration, programming, and commissioning of building automation systems in complex, mission-critical environments. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in at least one of the following: Allen Bradley PLC, Ignition SCADA, or Wonderware SCADA. This is a time-sensitive, high-priority role supporting a key customer.

Technical Service Work

    • Independently troubleshoot connections to HVAC equipment and controllers, identifying and resolving faults in control and monitoring systems.
    • Execute full startup and commissioning of BMS service projects, validating sequences of operation.
    • Modify and optimize control logic using relevant SCADA/PLC platforms (Allen Bradley, Ignition, Wonderware).
    • Perform field-level integration of supported systems and ensure data/network integrity.
    • Install and configure control system components (sensors, actuators, panels) with a thorough understanding of function and application.
    • Validate field wiring, sensor calibration, and system programming in live environments.

Engineering Task Coordination & Customer Interaction

    • Partner with engineering teams to ensure accurate visuals and data across platforms
    • Provide on-site support in sensitive data center environments
    • Communicate job status clearly to customers and internal teams
    • Lead or support end-user training on system usage and maintenance
    • Recommend repairs or upgrades based on findings in the field.

Team Collaboration & Technical Support

    • Execute scopes defined by Service Engineers and relay field findings
    • Provide feedback on redlines and drawing updates
    • Mentor junior techs and help prioritize tasks during field execution

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • 5+ years of field experience in BMS, SCADA, PLCs, or HVAC controls.
    • Strong independent troubleshooting and commissioning skills.
    • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following platforms: Allen Bradley PLC, Ignition SCADA, Wonderware SCADA.
    • Knowledge of HVAC systems, control sequences, and integration strategies.
    • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and control schematics.
    • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
    • Able to travel regularly (up to 95% of the time) within Central/Northern New Jersey.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate degree in electronics, automation, HVAC technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
    • Experience working in mission-critical environments (data centers, hospitals, etc.).
    • Familiarity with industry-standard commissioning procedures and FDD platforms.

$80,000 - $110,000 a year
