Operations Manager
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse to ensure smooth and efficient functioning. You will lead a team of warehouse staff, implement the best practices, and optimize processes to meet company objectives and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate would be a dynamic and experienced professional with strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for driving efficiency and excellence in warehouse operations. They would also possess the ability to effectively manage people, processes, and resources to achieve operational objectives and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Oversee all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping, to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment and meet customer service level agreements.
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency, minimize errors, and maximize productivity.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless workflow and effective communication.
- Monitor inventory levels and control stock movements to minimize shortages and excess inventory, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with inventory management protocols.
- Lead, mentor, and train warehouse staff, providing guidance, performance feedback, and support to foster a culture of teamwork and accountability, as well as hire, perform disciplinary actions, and dismiss as appropriate.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, enforcing safety regulations and conducting regular inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Track and analyze key account metrics, such as client satisfaction, usage patterns, and revenue growth, to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to anticipate client needs and provide strategic guidance.
- Develop and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers. Manage supplier performance.
Job Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
Preferred Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; or certification is a plus.
Experience:
- Two plus years’ experience in warehouse operations management, preferably in a distribution or logistics environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Experience with ISO or other formal quality systems.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with diligence and an initiative-taking approach to addressing issues.
- Solid understanding of warehouse management principles, inventory control techniques, and best practices in logistics and distribution.
- Proficiency in warehouse management software (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
Preferred Skills and Qualification:
- Knowledge of Group O client portfolio industries and relevant market trends is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift fifty pounds, and bend, stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
