Work from written or verbal instruction, drawings, process sheets, route cards and knowledge of production operations to anticipate department needs and operate pallet jack to move materials, parts, equipment and castings as needed to facilitate production.
Perform application of visible and/or fluorescent inspection to identify defects.
Perform magnetic particle processing including pre-cleaning, post cleaning and demagnetizing of castings according to established procedures.
Perform cosmetic and investigative grinding as needed for test preparation and to determine seriousness of defects. Perform white light visual inspection to determine whether parts pass or fail inspection based on knowledge of defect seriousness and industry codes, standards, and customer specifications.
Perform chemical surface treatment (etching) to prepare castings for inspection when required by specification and/or work instruction. Responsible for tank maintenance associated with etching chemical treatment.
Perform grit blast using various blast equipment and media as a pre-inspection surface preparation and post-inspection cleaning.
Operate overhead cranes, hoists and other lifting equipment as needed to move work pieces and facilitate inspection.
Maintain accurate records regarding heat numbers and operations, including use of computerized record keeping.
Initiate change requests for process changes and adjustments to standards.
Maintain Level I certification in Liquid Penetrant and/or Radiographic Inspection. The individual will be expected to complete and successfully pass the required certification test per the guidelines SNT-TC-1A of the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing for level I and NAS-STD-410, Level 1.
Participate in department work groups.
Requirements:
Ability to obtain Level I Liquid Penetrant and/or Radiographic inspection certification.
Ability to follow written and verbal instruction with minimal supervision.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
High School diploma or equivalent required, NDT diploma/certificate preferred.
