About the Team:
CrowdStrike’s Ontology and Events team is part of the Sensor Foundations group. We provide tools and libraries for cloud services and endpoint agents to access, validate and operate over the trillions of events CrowdStrike creates every day. Our core mission is to ensure that access to and interactions with events are safe, reliable and fast. Ontology and Events is a new team, formed to centralize work in this space.
CrowdStrike is a computer security company, but we do not expect candidates for this role to have prior security industry experience. We will mentor and train in security topics as needed. We do expect a strong interest in CrowdStrike's mission and a willingness to grow into a position consulting on system design decisions and coordinating with other teams across the company.
CrowdStrike is a remote-first organization and you’ll be collaborating with developers in many locations. Remote applicants are welcome, and we regularly work with colleagues in the US, Europe and Australia. If you prefer the office life, CrowdStrike has engineering offices in Kirkland (WA), Minneapolis (MN), Sunnyvale (CA), and Crystal City (VA).
What You’ll Do:
This is a Sr. Developer role on a team that owns tools and libraries written in a number of languages. You should expect to:

  • Write and maintain high-performance Go code

  • Create and Maintain code generation tools that produce several programming languages

  • Deploy and support data definitions across production and test clouds

  • Solicit and integrate feedback about design proposals and user needs

  • Debug cross-platform and integration issues, working closely with other teams to ensure safety and reliability

  • Design and write integration and end-to-end tests

  • Balance operating independently with regular user interviews and intra-team coordination

  • Shape the direction and roadmap of our tools and architecture


  • What You’ll Need
  • Strong Go coding skills

  • Show a track record of shipping quality software

  • Can dive into a complicated code base where changes require careful attention and puzzle solving

  • Have architectural and design experience building software across many system layers

  • Show strong technical communication skills, including presenting, software architecture documentation and user feedback solicitation

  • Are excited to improve performance and user experience

  • Take responsibility for their work, and see feedback as an opportunity to iterate

  • Can communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in a distributed team

    While not required for this position, we will find any of the following particularly attractive in a candidate:
  • Strong Python coding skills

  • Comfort with kernel- or user-mode C/C++

  • Experience with event processing systems or message passing languages
